Arabian Nights: Oman & Dubai

Participants: 22 pax,  Accommodation: 5 Star, Duration: 12 days

Day 01: Arrive Dubai

Today arrive at Dubai and transfer to the award winning Burj al Arab hotel by Rolls Royce. Designed to resemble a billowing sail, the hotel soars to a height of 321 meters, dominating the Dubai coastline. At night, it offers an unforgettable sight, surrounded by choreographed color sculptures of water and fire. This all-suite hotel reflects the finest that the world has to offer.

Day 02: Dubai

This morning there will be a sightseeing tour of Dubai including the magnificent Jumeira Mosque, the old wind-towered houses of Bastakiya and the 150-year-old Al Fahidi Fort. Cross Dubai Creek by traditional abra for a prime view of the modern metropolis with its splendid architecture dwarfing the bustling alleys of Dubai’s famed gold and spice souks. This afternoon is at leisure.

Day 03: Arrive Muscat

After breakfast take a short flight from Dubai to Muscat, Oman. Muscat enchants visitors in a way that no other city in the Gulf can even begin to match. The old port area, is the site of the sultan’s main palace and a fascinating place to wander around. There are three forts in Muscat, all of which took on their more or less present form in the 1580s during the Portuguese occupation of Muscat. Mutrah Fort sits on a hill while Jalali and Mirani forts guard the entrance to Muscat. This afternoon there will be a half day tour of the Omani capital.

Day 04: Muscat

Today there will be a full day tour to the beautifully restored and scenically set forts of Nakhl, and Rustaq that guard the base of the massive Jebel Al Akhdar range.

Day 05: Arrive Sur

This morning you will journey down the pretty coastal road to Sur stopping at Wadi Shab, a palm fringed lagoon, and Qalhaat an ancient city visited by Marco Polo. On arrival there will be a tour of Sur—once the hub for trade with Zanzibar, India and China. The dhows which carried this trade are still built in the shipyard that you visit this afternoon.

Day 06: Arrive Nizwa

Set off this morning for Wadi Bani Khalid, a picturesque river valley. Continue to the Wahiba Sands, home of the Bedu people, that marks the start Empty Quarter. Late this afternoon arrive in Nizwa.

Day 07: Nizwa

This morning visit Bahla fort, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and Jabrin fort, former retreat of the Imam which is now superbly restored. In the afternoon visit Misfah, a village built on the Cliffside; Al Hamra, an elegant village with terraced gardens; and Wadi Ghul, the Grand Canyon of Oman with a sheer one kilometer gorge.

Day 08: To Muscat

Following breakfast visit Nizwa souq and the massive fort which dominates the town. Later transfer to Muscat passing through the Sumail Gap. The late afternoon will be at leisure.

Day 09: Arrive Dubai

Morning flight to Dubai. On arrival transfer to the luxurious Al Maha Desert Resort & Spa, an idyllic oasis hidden amongst the red sands of the desert. Each Bedouin style suite has tented ceilings, hand woven carpets, rich brocade and floor to ceiling windows that offer endless views. Attached wrap around wooden sundecks with private plunge pools complete the luxury. The afternoon will be at leisure at Al Maha, or you might like to try your hand at some of the activities that are on offer at the resort.

Lebanese Lifestyle & Food

Participants: 15 pax,  Accommodation: 5 Star, Duration: 05 days 

DAY 1: Arrive Beirut

Welcome to Beirut. You are met on arrival, and taken on a tour of the downtown area. Explore the recently renovated streets, newly found archeological sites, churches and mosques from the Crusader and Moslem periods. Visit the historic Grand Serail, an Ottoman monument that crowns Serail Hill. Explore the National Museum, with its vast collection of pre-historic Egyptian artifacts and statues, glassware and jewelry treasures from the Phoenician, Roman and Byzantine empires. This afternoon check into your 5* deluxe hotel located on the Mediterranean Sea.

DAY 2: Baalbek & Anjar

This morning, it is a short hour’s drive to visit Baalbek, Lebanon’s greatest Roman treasure and a wonder of the ancient world. Explore the ruins dedicated to Jupiter, Bacchus & Venus – the largest and the world’s best-preserved Roman temples and towering monuments. Then take a break and enjoy a typical and tasty Lebanese lunch in a local restaurant. In the afternoon, proceed to the Ksara Winery for a tour and tastes of Lebanese wines. Next, continue on to Anjar, a walled city built in the early 8th century, with the remains of over 600 shops, city walls, temples and baths. Return to Beirut by late afternoon. DAY 3: South Lebanon – Sidon & Tyre, LEBANON Today, drive to South Lebanon for a full day of touring. First, visit Sidon, the largest city in South Lebanon, whose start can be traced back to the 14th century BC. Explore the ancient caravanserail (traders’ way station) and the colorful old souks and then visit the 17th century Audi Sidon Soap Museum. Tour the Sea Castle, a fortress built by the Crusaders in the early 13th century, located on a small island just off the mainland. After lunch in a local restaurant, continue to Tyre, Queen of the Seas. Visit its large archeological site – featuring an aqueduct, a triumphal arch, and the largest hippodrome in antiquity, along with its amazing necropolis. En route back to Beirut, stop to explore the ruins of the Phoenician Temple of Echmoun, honoring the God of Death and Birth.

DAY 4: 

Jeita Grottoes, Harissa & Byblos, LEBANON This morning visit the amazing Jeita Grottoes, Lebanon’s natural miracle. This is a striking, two level, 51/2-mile long labyrinth of rock galleries. Explore the lower river level on a unique flat-bottom boat tour – floating on a subterranean lake past “weeping willows” and gigantic stone flowers. On the upper grotto, see striking images of monstrous mineral animals crouching in the shady corners. Next drive to Harissa to visit the magnificent Lady of Lebanon statue of the Virgin Mary and to gaze at the spectacular panoramic views of Jounieh’s Bay. After lunch in a local restaurant, proceed to Byblos (Jbail), the most ancient port in the world, and birthplace of the Roman alphabet. The city offers over 7,000 years of history & culture, and presents a comprehensive look at the many layers of civilization that have existed in Lebanon. You will be back in Beirut by late afternoon.

DAY 5: Depart Beirut

Today you are taken to the airport for your departing flight home or on to your next destination.
